A Bird at Home / projection & sculpture installation / installed at OCAD University (2018)
Description:
Viewers enter the gallery through a narrow column to find the large nest made of clothing and domestic materials. The video projection is a ten-minute video loop of a young woman reading, while leisurely eating hard-boiled eggs and berries. Yarn is attached to various objects in the space, leading to the screen where they meet each object in its virtual form. Within the video, yarn as well is attached to each object and runs off, out of frame. A sound of distant bird chirping comes from a speaker hidden within the nest.
This piece was created in collaboration with Brigitte Sampogna. We explore an intersection of the home and nature.
